'From Whence our Trees' Talk by Tom Christian at Logie Steading

05 May 2019

Starts: 12:00

FROM WHENCE OUR TREES ....

"Scotland is home to fewer than two dozen native tree species, yet all across the country in woods, forests and estates are planted many hundreds more that have been brought here from all over the world. Some of these have become popular ornamental trees in great landscapes and domestic gardens, some are highly sought after collectors items, while other have become the mainstay of Scotland's forestry industry and make a significant contribution to the rural economy.  The story of Scotland's treescape is one of intrepid explorers and visionary tree-planters.

"Botanical horticulturist and conservationist specialising in trees, Tom Christian will trace this 400 year history, telling the inextricably entwined stories of trees and people, and how both have shaped the Scotland we see today."  -
